This is a new concept to me but sounds extremely interesting I was talking to one of my amazing clients yesterday and asked her if she likes to garden, she told me she used to love to garden but she can’t do everything she used to now her body’s kinda giving out on her. Then she asked me if I had ever heard of “Keyhole Gardening”… WELL… It has gardening in the title so it must be cool!
What she loved about the concept is that the garden is waist high so there is no stooping over that hurts your back and/or knees. It is a round garden that doesn’t take up much space and has a slot or a keyhole where you walk into the middle of the circle and everything is very accessible whether you are in the middle of the circle or if you were around the outer edges.

Well… Anyway, this sounded great to me so I immediately Googled “Keyhole Gardening” and found lot’s a juicy info on the subject. I don’t know about y’all but I can deftly see one of these babies in my future!
According to www.inspirationgreen.com, they were 1st made popular in Africa but are catching on in Texas because it’s so hot and dry. Keyhole gardens hold moisture and nutrients due to an active compost pile placed in the center of a round bed. Although most helpful in hot and dry locations a keyhole garden will improve growing conditions in just about any climate.
From a bird’s eye view the garden is shaped as a keyhole. A notch is cut into a round garden bed, the notch makes for easy
access to the center compost well.- See more at: http://www.inspirationgreen.com
